Pictures Paul Davies took during a recent expedition to the Pilbara region of Australia to see the oldest traces of life on earth. An interdisciplinary team, with direction from SESE’s Sara Walker, recently published results of their study of 67 biological networks.  In this study, the team sifted through data to better understand the root connections among the networks, measuring a number of mathematical features, simulating the networks’ behavior and looking for patterns to provide clues to what made them so special.
